Changes to how we teach phonics and early reading
We have recently purchased a new phonics scheme called Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised. This is so we can bring our approach to phonics and early reading in line with the new guidance about how to teach children to read.
Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised has been validated by the Department for Education; it is a systematic synthetic phonics ( SSP ) programme, which means that it includes reading books as well as the progression of phonics.
Feedback from schools already using Little Wandle is extremely encouraging and we are looking forward to introducing the new scheme to the children and enjoying the Little Wandle reading books with them and with you.
